Tendon disorders / Tendonitis

There are many causes of wrist pain. In some patients, unexplained wrist pain can be attributed to a number of tendon disorders. These include:

•De Quervain’s tenosynovitis

•Intersection syndrome

•FCR tendonitis

•Dorsal wrist tenosynovitis

Treatment of these disorders differs, with some responding well simply to rest and physiotherapy. Others have a less favourable course and require steroid injections or even surgery to “release” the tendons in question from surrounding tissues and tight structures, allowing them to glide easier.
