North Wales Institute for Surgery of the Hand
Edwin Prashanth Jesudason is my full name, but I am known as Prash, by my friends and colleagues.
I am an experienced trauma and orthopaedic surgeon with a subspecialty interest in disorders of the hand, wrist and elbow. I am an elected council member of the British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH), and my GMC number is 4646673. I am also a fellow of the Bevan Commission, my main focus being to improve the environmental sustainability in surgical practice. I have achieved national recognition in this work, and won awards from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Edinburgh, the European Journal of Hand Surgery, the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare, The Bevan Commission and most recently from Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, my NHS employer

-MEET YOUR SURGEON-
I graduated from Manchester School of Medicine in 1999, and embarked on specialist orthopaedic training in Manchester and Lancashire between 2004 and 2012. This period included a one year advanced training post in hand surgery, a nationally appointed fellowship, recognised by the BSSH, to provide specialist training in all aspects of hand surgery, with a particular emphasis on plastic surgery. In 2012, I successfully completed the British Postgraduate Diploma in Hand Surgery, jointly awarded by the BSSH and the University of Manchester.
Since February 2012, I have been working as a consultant in Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor, North Wales, specialising in all aspects of orthopaedic trauma, but with a sub-specialist interest in the hand, wrist and elbow. I am a keen trainer of junior doctors and have given numerous national and international presentations throughout my career. I am an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Bangor Univeristy, and previously also Honorary Lecturer at Cardiff Univeristy and Swansea University. My main interests include Dupuytren's contractures, small joint replacement in the hand, wrist replacement, sports injuries of the wrist, arthritic disorders in the upper limb. As a keen musician myself, I also have an interest in hand, wrist and elbow disorders specific to musicians.
I am a keen pianist, and greatly enjoy playing in my spare time. I also am co-founder of "Healing Hands in Harmony" a charity group performs regular piano recitals and concerts. I also volunteer as an organist at St Joseph's RC Church, Colwyn Bay. I also love exploring the great outdoors. However, being a family man, what I enjoy most, is simply spending time with my wife and two children.
