Mr Prash Jesudason MB, ChB, MSc., FRCSEd (Trauma & Orth), Dip. Hand Surg (Br)
Edwin Prashanth Jesudason is my full name, but I am known as "Prash", by my friends and colleagues. I am an experienced trauma and orthopaedic surgeon with a subspecialty interest in disorders of the hand, wrist and elbow. I am an elected member of the British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH), and my GMC number is 4646673.
I graduated from Manchester School of Medicine in 1999, and embarked on specialist orthopaedic training in Manchester and Lancashire between 2004 and 2012. This period included a one year advanced training post in hand surgery, a nationally appointed fellowship, recognised by the BSSH, to provide specialist training in all aspects of hand surgery, with a particular emphasis on plastic surgery. In 2012, I successfully completed the British Postgraduate Diploma in Hand Surgery, jointly awarded by the BSSH and the University of Manchester.
Since February 2012 I have been working as a consultant in Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor, North Wales, specialising in all aspects of orthopaedic trauma, but with a sub-specialist elective and trauma interest in the hand, wrist and elbow. I am a keen trainer of junior doctors and have given numerous national and international presentations throughout my career. I am an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Bangor Univeristy, Cardiff Univeristy and Honorary Lecturer at Swansea University. My main interests include Dupuytrens contractures, small joint replacement in the hand, sports injuries of the wrist, arthritic disorders in the upper limb. As a keen musician myself, I also have an interest in hand, wrist and elbow disorders specific to musicians.
I am a keen pianist, and greatly enjoy playing in my spare time. I also play the guitar, sitar and didgeridoo! I also love exploring the great outdoors and my interests include hill walking, surfing and photography. However, being a family man, what I enjoy most, is simply spending time with my wife and two children.
