Tendon disorders

There are many causes of wrist pain. In some patients, unexplained wrist pain can be attributed to a number of tendon disorders. These include:

•De Quervain’s tenosynovitis

•Intersection syndrome - irritation and inflammation  on the back of wrist, occuring  when two tendons  become inflamed as the pass over each other.

•FCR tenosynovitis

•ECU tenosynovitis

Treatment of these disorders differs, with some responding well simply to rest and physiotherapy. Others have a less favourable course and require steroid injections or even surgery to release the tendons in question from surrounding tissues and tight structures, allowing them to glide easier.
